Shouldermen — a voice-controlled AI game

The Shouldermen wordmark with the angel and the devil perched on top of the letters

A puzzle game you play out loud. An angel and a devil are locked in a VR prison, and the only key is their password — they have to say it, and you have to make them.

Painting of a tiny angel and a tiny devil standing on an ordinary man's shoulders, whispering into his ears
the premise

Everyone Has Two

One on each shoulder. One argues for better, one argues for worse, and between them people somehow muddle through.

Then an evil genius locked every shoulderman on Earth inside a VR prison. With nobody whispering in their ears, humanity now makes every decision completely at random.

You've hacked into the prison. The cell door opens for one thing only: the password, spoken by an inmate. Get them talking.

how it works

Your Voice Is the Controller

No inventory, no combat, no walking. Just you, a microphone, and two very opinionated immortals. Every conversation is generated live — nothing is scripted, and nothing repeats.

Speak

Talk into your microphone like they're in the room. Deepgram turns your words into text the instant you say them. Prefer typing? Full text mode is built in.

They Talk Back

GPT-5 gives the angel and devil their wit; Eleven Labs gives them their voices. They remember what you said, hold grudges, and improvise like actors who never break character.

Make Them Say the Password

Each cell has a target word and a list of forbidden words — for you. Steer the conversation until the password slips out of their mouth. It's Taboo, except your opponent is alive.

the inmates

Meet the Shouldermen

Two prisoners, one cell, opposite job descriptions. They don't agree on anything — including how to get out.

The angel — white hair, gold halo, yellow jacket — mid-sentence in the VR prison
The Angel · Right Shoulder
"Perhaps it's a pilgrimage."

Earnest, patient, and constitutionally incapable of suspecting you of anything. Wants to get back to work guiding humanity — and believes you're probably here to help. Probably.

The devil — long dark hair, horns, black shirt — staring straight at you
The Devil · Left Shoulder
"You meddling fool!"

Suspicious, theatrical, and hilarious when insulted — which is often. Knows you want something from him and intends to make you work for every syllable. Steam reviewers' favorite.
